Leighton Jones is a British theatre composer and performer based in West Yorkshire. Mentored by Belize born British composer Errollyn Wallen, he completed a Masters of Music (composition and performance) at Leeds College of Music in 2017.
In 2024 he was commissioned by The Royal Opera House 'Making Opera For Younger Audiences' programme, to compose new work in collaboration with their Youth Opera Chorus. 'The Wish Thief' will be performed at Royal Opera House Linbury Theatre in July 2025.
Leighton is currently composer for Proper Job Theatre in Huddersfield. In 2023 he composed four new choral works for their critically acclaimed immersive theatre production of 'Beowulf' with libretto by Ian McMillan (The Bard of Barnsley) and Leeds poet Michelle Scally Clarke.
