Welcome To Dunvegas (2003) is the third studio album by Scottish fusion group The Peatbog Faeries and was the first release on the bands own Peatbog Records label.
After graduating from Salford University in 2001 with a BA in Popular Music and Recording, Jones returned to Skye to join the band on keyboards, and spent the following four years co-writing and touring with them throughout Europe, America and Australia.
Recorded in a cottage on the banks of Pool Roag near Dunvegan during a three-month-long party, the album blends traditional and modern Celtic music with electronic and world music styles. Jones arrangements and compositional influence is particularly prominent on the title track ‘Wacko King Hako’ and his Latin American music influence on ‘Morning Dew’, following three years studying son montuno piano styles during his BA studies.
“Peter Morrison’s belting, anthemic bagpipes and Roddy Neilson’s undulating fiddle reels reflect the constantly changing weather and landscape. Gaelic vocals on the track Fear Eile echo the island’s rich mythology and the hollow percussion on Morning Dew evokes memories of hanging mist and raindrops falling off ... well, everything!”
